2007-08 Realms School Dates/Events

AUGUST - 2007

8/11 • Realms BBQ Picnic and first annual Gear Swap (held at Realms this year)

8/15-17 • Upper School Orientation Trip (required for all students new to the Realms high school this year).  Wednesday is a prep day at Realms; Thursday-Friday is an overnight backpack trip in the local mountains.  (Note: there may be a parent and student evening meeting earlier in the month for those attending this trip, not yet scheduled)

8/23 • Kindergarten and preschool only: Evening meet-the-teacher event.

8/27 • First day of school.  Full day: 8:30-3:30. 

8/28 • 6:00-8:30 Back to School Night and Parent Orientation

8/30-9/7 • Upper School fall backpacking trip

SEPTEMBER

9/10 • Upper School only: no school, R&R day.

9/11 • Upper School only: academic classes begin

9/21 • Ethnic Potluck Dinner

OCTOBER

10/1 • No school: Professional development day

10/8-12 • Middle school backpack trip

10/19 • Picture Day

10/20-21 • First annual Fall Clean Up Weekend (opportunities on Sat. and Sun. to help improve the Realms grounds and buildings). 

10/22-26 • Upper school fall block trip

10/29-30 • No school: UEA

NOVEMBER

11/9 • Upper school only: No school, Teacher work day

11/12 • No school: Conferences (all school)

11/16 • Leafathon

11/21 • All school Thanksgiving Feast.  School out at noon

11/22-23 • No school: Thanksgiving holiday

DECEMBER

12/12-14 • Upper school drama production

12/20 • Last day of first semester classes

12/21 • All school “Winter fest” activity: school out at noon

12/24-1/4 • No school: Winter holiday

JANUARY - 2008

1/7 • First day of 2nd semester

1/17 • Winter skills program day 1

1/21 • No school: Martin Luther King Day

1/22 • No school: Professional development day

1/24 • Winter skills program day 2

1/31 • Open House (combined with student project fair) 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

FEBRURARY

2/7 • Winter skills program day 3

2/14 • Winter skills program day 4

2/18 • No school: President’s Day

2/19 • Upper school International trips begin (approximate date: trips frequently have departure and arrival dates that vary by up to 3 days in order to get lowest airfare). *Middle school international trip will also happen within the dates of the Upper school international trip. 

2/21 • Winter skills program day 5

2/29 • Contracts due for students returning in 2008-09

3/14 • Approximate international trip return date

3/17-21 • International trip project wrap up week

3/24-28 • No school: Spring Break

5/20 • Lower school drama matinée (during school hours)

5/21-22 • Lower school drama production (evening)

5/23 • Upper school only: Last day of 2nd semester classes

5/26 • No school: Memorial Day

5/26-30 • Upper school spring block trip

JUNE

6/2 • Upper school only: no school

6/3 • Field day (all school event)

6/4 • Last day of school.  Lower school awards, morning.  School out at noon.  Graduation, evening.
